It is important to the Portuguese people because it is a tower next to the Tagus riverbank.
This tower was constructed as a lighthouse and a defensive fortress.
It was built in 1515.

DeleteThis is Ms. Bohn and I am from the United States, but one of my favorite trips was to Portugal last February. I really enjoyed seeing the Tower of Belem.
I would also recommend that if people are visiting Belem they should visit the Jerominos Cloister and Monastery (a UNESCO World Heritage site). The monastery was built by King Manuel 1 in 1502 to commemorate Vasco Da Gamas' successful trip to India, and to give thanks to the Virgin Mary. I love all of the columns in the cloister which are each carved with objects all with sea themes like coral, sea monsters or rope.
Also, if you are in Belem visitors must try one of the Belem Pasteis which are wonderful egg custards.

ReplyDeleteHi, I'm Aylee and I am from Canada. If you get a chance to visit Canada, I recommend that you visit Calaway Park. It is a fun park full with rides. Family's go there for almost a day sometimes. The city that it's in is Calgary,that's were my mom grew up and were my Grandma and Grandpa lives and some times in summer we go to Calgary and go to Calaway Park.

It`s in portent for South Africa because The world cup in 2010 was there . It is a big stadium for playing football. the stadium is so high that even people budgie jump from it. It`s a beautiful stadium and 4500 people can sit in it. there also a lift in it so you can go on top see a very beautiful few.

DeleteHi I'm David and I'm from Vietnam. If you ever get to visit Hanoi, I recommend you to visit Van Mieu. It is important to Vietnamese people because it was the first college in Vietnam and only the best of the best can go there.But now it not a college place to learn now, it sort of a museum they sell stuff like necklessis that have old Vietnamese words or towers, strings and other stuff too. Also there is a gold greenish turtle they say if you touch the turtle on the head with your hand you get smarter but don't sit on it. There is one medium size pond there is nothing really special about that pond and right next to it are some stone turtles there are very big ones and medium sizes ones and these turtles represent people who are very smart they put your name and age and where did you live one only one person in ten years can go there.

Hi, I'm Lennard and I am from Germany. If you ever visit Germany, you have to visit the Commerzbank tower in Frankfurt. The Commerzbank tower is 300 meters high and designed by the famous architect Sir Norman Foster. It is important to the German people, because it is the highest building in Germany. Until 2003 it was the highest building in Europe. To me it is also important because my dad worked there and we often had lunch in the Plaza restaurant. The tower has very fast lifts, some with panorama view. Inside the building you can find nine gardens with flowers and trees. Every year falcons brood on the rooftop. From the highest floor (50) you have a fascinating view. You can see the whole city from above, airplanes flying by and a soccer stadium named Commerzbank arena. In this stadium Eintracht Frankfurt is playing. And what’s the highest building in your country?

Hi, I am Rex and I am from the USA. If you ever visit the USA you should visit the Golden Gate Bridge. It is a very important bridge. It is long and strong and my people worked hard on it. Before the bridge was built, people had to ride across on boats. They didn't enjoy it so they asked to build a bridge. But the sea was deep and the wind and the waves were strong. ReplyDeleteIf you look closely at the Statue of Liberty, you will see that she is a woman that is wearing a long robe--that was to represent the Roman Goddess of Freedom named Libertas. In her right hand, she is holding up a torch that is to represent the light of freedom and victory. In her left arm, she is holding a book which has the date of the Declaration of Independence.
This takes us to a little bit of American history. A long time ago America was a colony of the United Kingdom and we paid taxes to the British King and Queen. Then the American people fought for freedom to be their own independent country and no longer pay taxes to Britain. They won the war and leaders of America wrote a document called the Declaration of Independence. This was a written statement that they were independent and free from Britain. The Statue of Liberty was given to the America people 100 years after they won this victory as a gift from the French!

Hi, I am Mrs. Motta. I come from the United States of America. More specifically I come from the Pacific Northwest. In my state of Washington we have a very famous natural landmark. It is called Mt. Saint Helens. It is very popular because it is a volcano that blew off it's top in the early 1980's. It is a fascinating place for scientists to study about plants and animals in the area. I love to visit it and learn more about the Earth. Another popular landmark in Washington State is the Space Needle in Seattle. It is a really interesting building. DeleteI love Lazienki Park. I enjoy visitng the park all year but my favorite seasons are spring and summer when they have the free Chopin piano concerts on Sunday. Did you know that Lazienki means bath, and the original Palace of the Island was built as a private bathhouse for Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirskin in the 15 century? In 1772 it was bought by the last king of Poland and converted into a palace. I love seeing the peacocks around the palace and the lake. It is such a peaceful place for walks or listening to music.
Have you ever taken a tour inside the Palace on the Island? I haven't, but would like to do that this summer.

Hello, my name is Susie. I am from Ireland and there are many nice places to visit like W5 in Belfast and that is in nrothen Ireland but in Dublin we have a zoo. There is something to do the vicing splash were it is a bus that they put flots on and it goes in to a man made lake on front of the lake there is a theater called the canal theater and the lake is called the canal lake. A restrant is called the canal bank were it has really good chicken wings that are abit spicy but not to spicy to eat.

DeleteI love to watch animals and I especially enjoy seeing them in habitats where the animals look healthy and happy. Do you think the animals in the zoo in Ireland are well cared for?
I think there are some really nice homes for animals in Warsaw Zoo, but I worry that some may be too small for the animals. It is hard to keep large animals like elephants in a zoo and take care of them so that they are happy and healthy.
However, I notice that they continue to build and improve the habitats for the animals in Warsaw Zoo. The new house for the hippopotamus is much nicer than before and now the hippos have an indoor and outdoor pool to swim in.

There is a big line to wait for a turn, but it is a wonderful activity, and a great part of London. When it starts, you can get a chill and your stomach turns upside down, but at the end you feel amazing.
